The Good change..! ~Dedicated to Richie..!

This post is dedicated to the sweetest couple I know and is supposed to be on change(but as long as this is my space, who cares anyways!)... Ritu and Archie! Archie (who i mostly call doggy..!) and who comes under the false impression that I write well is one of my closest friends... Now the reason i am writing this(despite the fact that i love Archie..) is because of the person who swept her off her feet(not literally though..! :p)... Ritu(who's a guy..! ) was one person we always suspected Archie to be in love with but she never told us... She had lovingly kept the card and the chocolate ka wrapper(after eating the chocolate alone...!) that Ritu had given her... So Archie secretly fell in love with Ritu though we had guessed it long back we had really no clue when it actually happened...(though Riko had already given the bhavishya vani that it had happened...!!) Archie told us everything that happened and stuff but she never(never ever..!) confessed to us that her Prince C...

Tales of an idle mind..In Mumbai..!

I am in Mumbai yet again and I'm spending some jobless and useless moments here..So I'm spending my time watching people around me,and walking to Marine drive(though its quite far from the apartment..) Here are some of my observations..(as I have nothing better to write!) Yesterday I saw a really cute middle aged couple  in the cab before us,the husband and wife looked quite untouched by the rain and traffic outside...He settled her gajra and she laughed and put her head on his shoulders lovingly... For the few minutes that I saw them, they seemed quite in love and quite unconcerned of the world outside... I am not much of a 'gawk at people' type person but there was seriously something magical and innocent about them which was rare in other cases... As the cab moved past us, i wondered was it just the rain or love is in the air of Mumbai... I saw many more of such couples at Marine drive yesterday and today but they were not as interesting to watch as the...

I got up in the morning, yes yet again I slept off on my birthday with my phone silent(I think old habits die hard..!)...And I had to answer so many threat messages in the morning from my friends, and to top that up my phone line got jammed at night which is why some friends found my phone busy,I was totally busted...!! Anyway what is actually new and special about my18th birthday (except the fact that I'm no longer 17..!!!) is that I got up at 6.30am today(for a late riser like me,that's like totally an achievement..!!).. Today after waking up and as usual looking at the time in my phone I nearly screamed at the number of missed calls and messages then I called mom just to tell her about 'me' waking up at 6.30 and to ask her whether everything back there is fine (obviously with 57 missed calls and god knows how many messages what else do people do..!!) and before I could say anything mum wished me happy birthday and I just sleepily said "eh birthday ohh birthday ...

Fracture Day!

About two or three days before my iit exam I fell down from the stairs..Yes yet again I fell and this time I fractured my left ankle..!! Actually I was walking down the stairs singing Bhojpuri songs and irritating my mom when suddenly I missed a step and fell....!!! When i looked down on my ankle i saw it became swollen and red, it looked nothing less than an inflated red football..!!..(aur gao bhojpuri gaane..!!)... Before i could call out to mumma i felt really amused at this situation and started laughing(what did you expect..!!).. But mumma heard the noise and came running to rescue me before i fell laughing(total filmy style..!)..Till then everything was fine but just when she saw my ankle she raised a hue and cry about it and started her worrying session as to whether it is a fracture or I've broken a bone... Inspite of telling her a million times that it's a fracture and reminding her that the last time i had a fracture it looked the same, She kept on worrying and runnin...

Today one of my friend's mother has successfully undergone a critical operation and I had been speaking to my her throughout the day telling her to be calm as she was really disturbed..She kept saying that "i have never seen mum like this, she looked so pale and weak lying in that hospital bed.." And suddenly all the memories came flooding back..I remembered how i felt the same when dadi(my grandmother) was in the ICU for more than 8 months..And how i spent most of my time last year running from school to tuitions and then to the hospital with the same tension everyday..But more than tension i felt helpless.. She told me how the doctor had not said anything except that the operation is an extremely critical one and I remembered how we heard the "she is critical" phrase for 8 long months..I remembered how i prayed so hard so that she recovers....Because there was nothing else i could do..but even after months of struggle and so many nights spent praying we lost......

Yesterday's gone...And tomorrow may never be mine.

I will always remember the day I walked into this blue colored building wide eyed with a feeling of excitement and fear as to how high school would be and I will also remember this day as I walk out of this building today finally as a senior... This place may not have caused any drastic change in me but it has definitely added a lot of confidence in that walk..   It's hard to imagine days when I don't need to walk in through those gates or stand outside because I got late(I mostly did)...I remember standing outside these gates and grumbling about how unfair the school authorities are whenever I got late and I wasn't allowed to enter school...I remember making paper boats with Riko and throwing it in the puddles formed in the school lawn some sailed through and some sinked half way.. I have spend my  best and truly the craziest moments of my life here and it is here that I met my friends / my partners in crime and my attorney's whenever I got caught.. It is here that we ...

Retreating back..

Today is Dashami the last day of Durga puja when Ma Durga is immersed into the Ganges..And like every bengali I too have a heavy heart on this day.. When I was small I used to go to see  the Bisarjan (or the immersing of the idol of Ma Durga) in a lake in Behala with my cousins in the evening...Wide eyed with wonder i would watch as scores of idols from tiny to tall made their way on the shoulders of devotees down to the final immersion place.. The immersion place would be filled by devotees dancing to the dhaak beats and the smoke from the dhunuchi... And I would silently shed tears (like a silly girl) seeing Ma Durga gradually sink into the water ..And if anybody noticed(which they hardly did) I would say uff eto dhoa (The smoke of the dhunuchi is unbearable)!! My cousins would happily witness the noise, the colour and the grandeur with our newly bought balloons and ice creams as I kept getting sadder and sadder.. And while walking back home from there(the lake is at walking distanc...
I am a proud sister today my sister got through in one of the best colleges in India plus a dream job in one of the best core companies..I am so happy for her,so happy that tears roll down my eyes when I see her today and remember one day many years back when I was really small and I had got a scolding for some reason and I had gone to her and told her that "Ju maybe I wont be able to do anything in life but you study hard you have to make mummy and Babi(thats what I call my dad) proud "!!And she doesn't know how very proud I am..I almost feel as if I have got through that college!! Even now whether I make it big in life or not I really really want her to get all the happiness in the world and even more.. Ju has always been like a little sister for me though she is 5 years elder to me I have always treated her like a child infact mum tells me I worry about ju much much much more than she does..Even though I know she can handle herself but still I just can't let her b...

A year older a year wiser..

Today my blog has completed a year..And I feel so blessed that atleast some people are reading it..In this one year this blog has become more like a constant companion for me to whom I can turn to in my hard times..Last year on this date when I had first started writing I had never thought anyone would even care to read it that's why I hadn't even told anyone but now it seems so surprising that some people actually read my blog.. I have often been asked as to why "velocity07"?Actually I was extremely fascinated by the term velocity from the day I first heard of it and because I have always loved physics I had kept this name..And 07 because i was born on the 16th of May!! I remember when I was really small and I had just learned to write I maintained a diary in which I wrote my stuff and gradually that became a habit.Initially when I used to write I used to share everything I had written with my Mom but as I grew up I maintained the diary really privately and wrote abo...
5 years back i was gifted the book Unaccustomed earth by dada(my grandfather) on my birthday and i fell in love with the book just from the time i saw its cover..There was something so intense about the cover page that i just couldn't wait to read it..And when i read it i found it was outstanding..And from then on it became the best book I had ever read(it still is).. And I was so possessive(I still am!) about that book that I dint even want to lend it to my cousin to read it(because she is mishandles books!!)....I really love the title of the book it is a metaphor for the struggle people undergo to be accustomed or settled..I like the title story Unaccustomed earth the best in the book..There were certain parts in the book which had a profound effect on my life specially the part in the title story where Ruma's father asks her “Will this make you happy?”I also liked the last story Hema and Kaushik which was represented in three parts but I wish it had a happier ending... I hav...
Sometimes some people come into your life as strangers and become something very important in your life sooner than you expect and touch your life in their own way..Such relations have no name but they can be defined by one perfect word "friendship"... I recently came across one such person in life, meera dida or rather misti dida...She was in the ward next to dadi in the hospital .. The first day I saw her she was staring at the door of the ward as if she was expecting someone..The pain and emptiness in her eyes was so unfathomable that i couldn't help but wonder what she was waiting for..And somehow everyday i would stand near her ward and try to understand the immense pain in those eyes and i realized that not one day had i seen someone who came to visit her in the hospital.. i dont know how we became such good friends in such a short time..I call her meera dida, dida means grandma in bengali.. One day she told me about how she loved talking and listening to songs...

Memories fade into farewell

Today our seniors of class 12 had their farewell and I realized that mine is on it's way too..As usual I had a blast with my friends..But in all this fun someone was missing..Someone who thought she'd rather be somewhere else than with us..But it's fine as if she is happy that's all that matters for us and I don't want to judge her in anyway. I remember when we had our farewell in class X people in our class were crying their eyes out while we were all celebrating..!! Riko, Gary ,meow and me we are really fond of tea so on the last day of class X we broke some school rules and had a small tea party in school.Riko brought a flask full of tea which we poured into glasses and after toasting to our friendship we gulped the hot tea burning our throats!!That day, 9th November 2009 we all realized that things are soon going to change, after that day we would have our 3 months study leave for boards. That day was one crazy day filled with group hugs and taking photographs of ...

Albert Einstein most profoundly said "How strange is the lot of us mortals! Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose we know not, though sometimes sense it. But we know from daily life that we exist for other people, first of all for whose smiles and well- being our own happiness depends." .. This quote quote has always made me reflective on my life and the people for whom I exist.... Life does seems worth living when I see a smile on the face of my mother ...Sometimes when we are distressed and in a pensive mood a reassuring smile does make us feel light..And sometimes there are people in your life who are really affected by your grief and they help you overcome it or stand by you during that difficult time..They maybe your parents,or your grand parents, your friends, maybe your sibling,or the person you love..Those people are really special, not because they love you but because you are a significant part of there lives..They are not only there in times of ...

Shadows of Time

Life is strange.... I never anticipated even in my wildest dreams that I would be able to attain the marks as to get Science but i surprisingly did...I was always one of the no-nuisance day dreamers in school, known in class for my strong opinions.I was never really serious about life,I was actually never serious about anything..But gradually my whole perspective about life changed,in every way possible...I used to be really impulsive and emotional as a child..But some circumstances in life change the very existence of your life..I always used to be my grandpa's little girl.I called him Dada and he called me Ma..... I remember holding his strong hand tightly with my little fingers while crossing the road and stopping near the sweet shop which was his favourite spot..Though he was advised by the doctor to have not more than one sweet a day whenever i returned from school i used to see him secretly gorging on Rasgullas..I can never forget those endless walks to the library with him an...

Two of a kind

Ju.......my little sweet sister who prefers to avoid sad movies or songs because it makes her sad and likes her clothes to be scattered around the room because it's easier to find them that way,who sits and cries seeing some other person in pain who loves churni(one of our 6 baby dogs or rather one of our 6 babies cause she doesn't consider them as dogs) more than me..she's one person who will shout at you for no reason and then make silly faces and act like a kid to make you laugh and make cards with smiley faces saying sorry...i can write a book on her but I'd rather utilize this space to write about the lovely relationship that we share...Every alternate day no matter how busy we are and what exam we have it is compulsory to have those never ending chit chat sessions, and our short walks to the long distance phuchka shop, and our memorable fight where I acted as if i'll hit her with the chair and she faked as if she'll hit me with the table and when we wer...

The Begining

Image
I turned 16 this year..!!!I always eagerly waited for my 16th b'day but when the day finally came that spirit diminished.....It was then that I tried to figure out what has changed in these years..There have been a lot of changes in my life since the last year..But more than anything else i have changed..I am still the old opinionated, outspoken, practical and rude person i used to be, but its just that my outlook towards life has changed. This blog is a memory of my triumphs and also my defeats, all my speculations and also my abstention, all my doubts and also their lucidities... This blog is dedicated to all the hard times i faced in this one year and the harder ones ahead of me.... I think the word that describes me best is simple.Maybe because i don't belong to the so called 'cool' brigade' where people fake an accent or have a yuppie attitude.People who are not acquainted with me think i'm serious or quiet but my friends wish i was!!I remember during my Parent...
